Just what are Splash Screens? You've probably seen them before and maybe didn't know their name. A Splash Screen is a window that pops up for a few seconds and then disappears just before the main program starts. They're a great way to easily add a professional touch to your presentations. Imagine you are distributing your web site on CD to a client. When they place your CD in their CD-ROM drive a small corporate logo appears in the middle of their screen (or some other graphic), and then your web site opens up and the presentation begins. It's a great feature to include.

If you decide to incorporate a Splash Screen on your CD, then it's a good idea to make your Splash Screen large enough to attract attention, but not so large that it takes up the user's entire screen (Keep in mind that most people still run 800 x 600 resolution).

Setting up your Splash Screen

From within CD Start-It, click on the "Configure Splash Screen" button shown below:

This will open a dialog that allows you to configure your Splash Screen.

Use the Browse button to browse for an image you would like to use for your Splash Screen. When you are done, you can push Save to save your Splash Screen and go back to the main CD Start-It window, Cancel to go back to the main CD Start-It window without using a Splash Screen, or you can push Clear to delete the current Splash Screen (if one was set).

To remove a Splash Screen at a later time from your project, from the main CD Start-It window push Configure Splash Screen > Clear > Save.
