CD Start-It User Manual

The Graphical Link Menu (or "Link Menu" for short) is a powerful feature of CD Start-It Pro that lets you create customized presentation slides with functionality to interact with both your user and the files on your CD. Graphical Link Menu's in CD Start-It Suite are created using the built-in Link Menu editor. You can access the Link Menu editor and the thereby edit the Graphical Link Menu for your CD by pushing the Add a Graphical Menu button from the main CD Start-It window pictured below:

This will bring up a window which will allow you to launch the Link Menu editor for your CD, or to include/uninclude the Link Menu in your presentation.

The first time the Link Menu Editor is run for your CD project, you will be given the option to choose from a number of templates. These templates are merely previously saved projects which you are free to modify and distribute as you see fit. The templates can serve as a teaching tool to help one understand the possibilities of Link Menu functionality, they can be used as a launching point and customized for your own Link Menus, or at the very least you can pick and choose graphics from the various template folders (located within the "templates" directory at the location you installed CD Start-It Suite) to include in your own presentations.

After choosing the "Blank Project", the Link Menu Editor will open with a similar view to the one below.

Each section of the Link Menu Editor can assist you in creating your Graphical Link Menu.

The Frames and Objects panel allows you jump quickly between various frames and objects within your Link Menu. To jump to editing a different frame, use the Frames drop-down. To jump to a specific object on the selected frame, use the Objects Drop down box. For more information please see the section on working with Frames and working with Objects.
After you have your Frame or Object is selected, you will be able to customize its properties using the Object Properties Panel. Each property effects some aspect of the current Frame or Object you are modifying.
Actions for the specified Object or Frame appear in the Object Actions panel. You can customize Object actions through this panel. For more information see the manual section on Assigning Actions.
