CD Start-It User Manual
Home > Auto Start Features In-Depth > Graphical Menu > Assigning Actions

Using the Object Actions panel, you can assign actions for different objects in your Graphical Link Menu.

Actions are fired in response to Events. Available events are listed in the Object Actions panel. Frames have a unique event On Load which objects do not. When an event occurs, objects for the event will be executed. The events occur according to how their name suggests they occur. For instance, On Load events occur when a Frame is loaded (when it first appears). On Mouse Over events occur when the mouse hovers over top of an Object. On Mouse Down events occur when a mouse button is clicked on an object. On Mouse Up events occur when a mouse button is let go over an object and On Mouse Out events occur when the mouse which was over top of an object, leaves from hovering over that object (i.e. the pointer of the mouse no longer lies within the boundaries of the object).

You may add as many events as you like to occur on any event you like. There are no restrictions. Simple click the Add New button to show the Add Action dialog and create your new action.

There are a number of actions you can create for an event. Clicking through the tabs at the top of the Add Action dialog will allow you to choose from a number of actions:

Launch URL - takes your client to the url you specify using their default browser.
Send E-mail - will open a new e-mail message to the address you specify using the default e-mail client.
Browse Folder On CD - is used for browsing a particular sub-folder on your CD-R.
Play A Sound File
- will play a sound from your CD. You should use .wav files to ensure compatibility on most machines.
Launch File - will automatically start any file of your choosing from CD.
Browse CD - opens the root directory of your CD-R for a client to browse.
Go To Frame - used to link to another slide in your presentation.
Exit Presentation - will exit the presentation and should be used to provide an easy way for clients to close the dynamic link menu if you do not include a Close Box by default on your Frame (i.e. by disabling the Control Box on the Frame Properties).
Run Shell Command - will execute a command in the shell of the target computer
Issue Object Command - will allow this object to issue commands to other objects on your Frame. For instance, changing text or images of other Objects.

When you are finished customizing your action, push OK and the action will be added to the Event queue.
